In the organization of the Croatian association for health and safety on work and with the funding of the ministry of business, work and entrepreneurship, on the 20th of February the expert conference “Experience in the application of the regulations on the work and health safety whilst working on the computer” took place. About 150 people attended. Through 12 presentations of various experts, and covered all the regulations and offered additional explanations of the regulations. It was concluded that it is vitally important that computer workplaces appraise the dangers, and the importance to acquire proper education in the area of working on a computer and the importance of recognizing ergonomically shaped furniture, and for quality eye and sight exams, and the need for corrective exercises in the interest of keeping the bone and muscle system unharmed and the general awareness of one’s health. Also the absence and vagueness of the regulations were observed, and some changes were proposed, especially the ones that define the working hours spent on the computer, the lighting and the need for practical education about proper ways to work on a computer, the obligations of the employers in the process of acquiring corrective aids, and better describing breaks and exercises. The people who organized the conference are hoping that by the time of the next conference these issues will be resolved.
Physiotherapist Tonći Šitić held a lecture “How, when and why to exercise while working on a computer”, with demonstrations of the exercises useful for keeping the bone muscular system in a healthy condition. People who have shown concern about their health have gotten a CD with useful exercises.
